New Patients  ·  Your First Visit

You'll walk out knowing
what's wrong and what it takes.

One visit, $180, about an hour. A full exam, a straight answer in plain language, treatment the same day, and a plan with a real number of visits on it. Nothing to commit to before you know what you're dealing with.

The Visit

What happens, step by step.

1
History and what brought you in
What's going on, how long it's been going on, what makes it better and worse, and what you're actually trying to get back to. About 10 minutes.
2
Movement screen
You'll be asked to move through five basic patterns: squat, hinge, push, pull and carry. This is where compensations show up, and it's usually where the real problem is hiding.
3
Region-specific orthopedic exam
A hands-on exam of the joint that's actually bothering you: shoulder, knee, hip, foot, elbow. Range of motion, orthopedic tests, and neurological testing. This is the part most chiropractors skip and it's most of why the exam is $180.
4
Your report of findings, same day
Dr. Cagape tells you what he found in plain language: what's wrong, why it's happening, and what it takes to fix it. You don't come back a second time to hear the answer.
5
Treatment on day one
Your first adjustment and any soft tissue work that's indicated happen at this visit. You're not booked back to start feeling better.
6
A plan with a number on it
You leave with a written care plan, exercises to do at home, and a specific recommendation. Not an open-ended schedule, and not a package to buy today.
Plan for about an hour. Wear comfortable athletic clothing, because you'll be moving. No referral needed. Chiropractors are primary healthcare providers in California, so you can book directly.
The Cost

$180, and you know that
before you walk in.

That covers everything above: the history, the movement screen, the orthopedic exam, your findings, treatment the same day, and your plan. There's no separate charge for the treatment and nothing gets added at the desk.

$180
What comes after, if anything
An office visit is about 15 minutes and $60, good for a flare-up or upkeep. Soft tissue therapy can be added for +$50.
The Foundational Movement Program is 45-minute visits, about 6 to 8 of them, at $150 a visit. Every visit includes an adjustment, soft tissue work and corrective exercise coached in the room. Billed one visit at a time, no package and no commitment.
Nothing at all is also a legitimate outcome. If your exam shows this isn't the right place for you, you'll be told that and pointed somewhere better.
Worth knowing before you come in
If you join the membership on the day of your exam, your first month is $29.

The MMC Membership is $49 a month and lowers the price of every visit and service after your exam. It also includes tracking in the Wiggl app, where you log how you're moving, sleeping and feeling, Dr. Cagape reviews your logs, and we check in if something looks off. Cancel any time, nothing to sign.

You don't have to decide before you arrive and nobody will push it at you. It's mentioned here only because joining on exam day is cheaper than joining later, and you can't take advantage of that if you find out about it afterwards.

Before You Come In

Cash, card, or your HSA or FSA card
What to wear
Comfortable athletic clothing you can move in
Not tight jeans or anything restrictive

Fill in your forms before you arrive
They're sent to you when you book and take about five minutes. Doing them at home means the whole hour goes on your exam instead of a clipboard.

Quick Answers

Frequently asked.

Will I get treated on the first visit, or just examined? +
Treated. Some offices examine you on visit one and bring you back to hear the results and get treated on visit two. We don't. You get your findings and your first treatment the same day.
Will I be pressured into a plan? +
You'll get a specific recommendation, because a number is more useful than a vague "come back when you can." But there's no package to buy and no prepayment. Everything is billed one visit at a time and you can stop whenever you want.
Do you take insurance? +
We accept Landmark and United Healthcare for standard office visits. Otherwise we're a cash-pay practice and no insurance is required. We don't accept HMO plans or Medi-Cal. HSA and FSA are accepted for everything, and superbills are available on request if you want to submit to your plan yourself.
Do I need a referral? +
No. Chiropractors are primary healthcare providers in California, so you can book directly online or call or text (408) 519-2269. Same-day and next-day appointments are often available.
Do I need an X-ray first? +
Usually not. Imaging is useful when your history or exam points to something that needs it, and unnecessary otherwise. If your exam suggests you need it, you'll be told and referred rather than treated around a question mark. Bring any imaging you already have.
What if I've never been adjusted before? +
Say so and everything gets explained before it happens. Before any adjustment, Dr. Cagape performs an orthopedic and neurological exam, so anything that rules it out gets identified first. There are gentler techniques if you're nervous, and nothing happens that you haven't agreed to.
What if this isn't right for me? +
Then you'll be told that at the exam, along with where to go instead. It happens, and it's a better use of your $180 than being sold care that won't work.
Where are you and where do I park? +
133 S. Main St, Milpitas, downtown and on the ground floor. Free street parking on Main St and the nearby side streets.

One visit.
Then you'll actually know.

Movement screen, region-specific exam, findings the same day, treatment, and a plan with a real number on it. $180, about an hour, nothing to commit to.
